Mark Lye
Mark Lye is a familiar face to many from his 18-year career on the PGA TOUR, his role as an analyst on The Golf Channel (TGC) and as a player on the Champions Tour. Lye grew up in Northern California where he began playing golf at the age of nine. A three-time All-American at San Jose State University, Lye joined the professional golf ranks in 1975 playing in Europe and Australia.
After winning the 1976 Rolex Trophy tournament in Switzerland, the Australian PGA Tour’s coveted Champion of Champions event in 1976 and the 1976/77 Australian Tour Order of Merit, Lye joined the PGA Tour in 1977 where he was a consistent money winner for 18 years. Lye’s PGA Tour career earnings totaled nearly $2 million with his best year in 1983 when he captured the Bank of Boston Classic and finished 28th on the money list.
Lye stays active in the game as a member of the Champions Tour and through his participation in approximately 20 pro-ams, clinics, and exhibitions throughout the year.
When he isn’t on the golf course, Lye can be found on The Golf Channel as a reporter covering the Champion’s Tour and as an analyst in the studio for the network’s Pre Game Show and news show, Golf Central.
Lye’s knowledge of the game on and off the course, as well as his versatility as a player, an instructor and a speaker have brought him great success making him a popular figure among his peers, business clients and golf fans.
